Loaves and Fishes

I’m beginning to realize that I wasn’t called to be a Sunday school teacher in our ward because they heard what a cool teacher I am.  Bummer.  It has been a calling that has taught me a lot already.  Having to study the lessons has really been a blessing in my life…..even if I don’t always have the best attitude about it.  I’m working on that.

Last week part of our lesson discussed the miracles.  More specifically the miracle when Christ blessed a few loaves of bread and fishes and was able to feed an entire multitude of people.  I love this story in the scriptures…it’s probably one of my favorites.  I imagine that young boy giving all he had to the Lord.  He didn’t try to keep some of the food for himself.  He didn’t just give the Lord his extra food.  He gave all he had to offer and the Lord took it and made it enough to benefit all who were there.

I was at a meeting several years ago where our Stake President talked about this story.  Something he said that night has stuck with me ever since.  He basically said that if the Lord can take the bread and fish that was offered by that young boy and make it enough for the entire multitude, then certainly the Lord can take what we have to offer and make it enough.

Boy is that something that I am constantly needing to remind myself of….especially when it comes to this class.  I might not feel like I’m the smartest one for the job, but if I give it my all, the Lord will make it enough.

Everyone Should Go Green

A couple of weeks ago, Mark helped me paint our living room and kitchen green.  I loved the color and how it turned out….until we moved our furniture back and saw it all together.  It was way too light for all of our dark accents.  Mark is a good sport, and he agreed to help me paint it for the second time.

So, I went back to my good ol faithful “Brookside moss”.

You Know You’re In Oregon When…

This last weekend we made a super quick trip out to Oregon for my nephews blessing.  The day we got there, we had lunch with my mother in law.  We pulled up to her building and found a parking spot.  We had to laugh when we read this sign…

Yeah….we definitely weren’t in Idaho anymore.

Playing Catch Up

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve posted on the good ol’ blog.  Every time something cool or random has happened, I think about blogging it, but then it just never happened.  So, here’s a few random things that have happened lately.

~We painted our living/dinning room and kitchen green.  I love the color, but I don’t like how it looks with the brown accents in the room.  This green needs light blue and white accents….like you would see in a beach house.  So, Mark is a good sport and he went with me last night to buy a different green.  It’s the same green we used in our last house, so I know I will love it.  Now, we just have to re-tape and paint everything.

~I made homemade oreos the other night.  Yumm.  Cake mix cookies are some of my favorites.

~We got a tax return this year.  Oddly enough, it came in the form of a 4 wheeler.  Weird.  To say Mark is happy about this would be an understatement.  He takes it out for a spin any chance he gets, and he’s already pulled a car out of the snow with it.  I think he’s in heaven.  Now we just need a scoop for it, so we can clear the snow off our driveway.

~Not only is the 4 wheeler fun for Mark, our lab loves chasing it when Mark is out on it.  It totally wears him out…which I love.

~I’ve finally jumped on the Zumba bandwagon.  I’ve been going with a girl from work 2-3 times a week.  Despite the fact that I look ridiculous when I go, it’s been a great workout and it’s actually a lot of fun!

~This weekend we are taking a fun last minute trip.  It’s pretty fun being married to someone who brings out my impulsive side.
