People Here Sure Know How To Party

In honor of Pioneer Day, our stake put together a party like no other church activity I’ve ever been to.  What made this activity so awesome?  Well, there were so many cool activities that I will just have to start at the beginning.  The activity started with a giant pool filled with over 100 trout.  Yup, trout.  There’s no throwing a ping pong ball into a cup to win a goldfish for these people.

Then at first, they let some of the little kids into the pool to catch the trout.  By hand. 

Then they let in a few more kids.

Before too long it turned into a free for all.

 

Talk about chaos.  Kids were running around trying to find their parents to show their trout off.  As long as the fish didn’t touch me, I was great.  I may have jumped and screamed just a tiny bit when a kid almost dropped his trout on me. 

 

It was the craziest and funniest thing I’ve ever seen.  Until we went over to watch the chicken chase.  The poor chickens…they didn’t stand a  chance being chased by a bunch of little kids. 

After the chicken chase we went on a wagon ride.

 

 

 

 

When it was all said and done, one of the funniest parts of the entire evening definitely was the mutton busting! 

I have never seen so many crazy and cool activities all in one place.  Way to go Idaho.  And I’ll just state the obvious….It doesn’t take much to entertain me and make me laugh.  After an activity like this one, I can’t wait to see what they come up with for next year.

Thank Heavens For Hulu

Saturday night Mark and I decided to catch up on one of our favorite shows.  Yup.  We love us some Hell’s Kitchen.   It’s one of our guilty pleasures.  We love watching Chef Ramsey yell and throw food.  It’s so funny.  Ever since we moved, we’ve been slacking off in the tv watching department…so we had 5 episodes to watch.  The only unfortunate thing was that we didn’t start watching the episodes until about 10:30pm. 

And of course, one we started watching, we just couldn’t stop. 

Until we had watched them all. 

By the time we finished watching them, it was 2:30am.  We were so loopy….everything was hilarious and we both couldn’t stop laughing.

It was so much fun, and I would totally do it again in a heartbeat.  Especially since we don’t have church until 1:00pm.

Randomness

I’ve been hunting for a job for a week now.  I’m already tired of it.  Job searching gets old so fast.  Luckily, there’s a job that I’m excited about that looks promising.  Crossing my fingers.

In a way, Oregon has spoiled me.  I now have to pump my own gas.  And pay sales tax.  On everything.  Lame.

I made this for dinner last night.  It’s so tasty, and seriously, it’s the easiest recipe ever.  Make it.  Your taste buds will thank me later.

When Mark changed jobs, we had to give back the company car.  Bummer.  Right now we’re getting by with one car until we close on the house we are buying.  We don’t want to mess with our credit until that is done.  So, until we buy a car, I borrow one of my parent’s cars whenever I want to go anywhere.  It’s awesome, and we really appreciate their help.  But, it is kinda funny to have to ask to borrow the car.  I feel like I’m 16 again….it’s pretty funny.

For the last seven years, I’ve been serving in our ward in either Young Women’s or Primary.  I think this is the first time(in a really long time) that I’ve been to Relief Society two weeks in a row.  It’s nice, but kind of strange.  I’m used to having a wiggle song, games, and sharing time….not a lesson the whole time.

Mark and I are going to the Temple tonight.  Before we moved, it took us two hours to get to the Temple.  Now…we have two Temples within 20 minutes.  How awesome is that?!

Fireworks

One of our favorite things about the 4th of July are the firework shows.  Lucky for us Idaho Falls puts on one heck of a show.

If you ever have the chance to go….do it.  It was the best fireworks show I’ve ever seen.  Next year we’ve decided that we’re getting there early so we can get closer than the Wal-Mart parking lot!

 

Better Late Than Never

Well, I am finally getting around to posting about the 4th of July.  This year we celebrated more than we ever have before.  Why?  Well, since the 4th of July fell on a Sunday, most places changed their events to either the 3rd or the 5th.  So…..that meant twice the parades, twice the yummy food, and twice the fireworks…..which, if I’m being honest, was actually pretty fun.

First up….the parades.  There’s no other place where parents will encourage their kids to constantly run out into the street and to take candy from strangers.  You gotta love it.

 There were so many floats.  One favorite was a truck pulling this bike ramp and people were doing all sorts of jumps off of it.

There was this band rockin’ out the entire time.

And what 4th of July parade would be complete without a bunch of fire trucks?!

 

The only downside to all the fire trucks is their sirens can be a little hard on the ears.

One of the most fun parts about the parade was having a picnic while we waited for it to start.  Yum! 

 For some reason food tastes so much better when you are eating it outside and while sitting on the ground.

On The Open Road

Well, thanks to the help of many, we made it.

(Insert huge sigh of relief here)

We had several people come help us load our moving truck.  I was worried that we weren’t going to be able to fit everything in our truck.  Thankfully we had an electrical engineer helping us.  He packed that truck so darn well….there wasn’t an inch of wasted space.

Then once all the work was done, the major road trip began.  Two days and 14 hours of driving later, we made it. 

  And boy am I glad that drive is over.  Longest two days of my life.
