SOLD!

Ok...so we did it. We sold my HUMMER! Sad, huh. Well here's the story about how the whole thing came to be. I have always loved Hummers. They have been my favorite car for years. Mark knew this and last summer he'd been trying to figure out how we could buy one and fit it into the budget. I totally wanted one, but just thought that it wasn't the best time to buy one. So, I thought we were done with the whole Hummer idea for a while. Silly me. I must have forgotten for a moment that I am married to Mark...once he has an idea in his head...it doesn't leave. So let's fast forward a little bit to December. Mark had been fishing a lot with his brother Kurt. They are crazy...they leave at like 3:00 AM and don't get home until sometime in the late afternoon. One day Mark and Kurt were going to go fishing, or so I thought. What I didn't know at the time it that morning Mark actually flew to Boise, bought the Hummer, and drove it 8 hours back to Steven's house to hide it. Then he came home just like normal and told me all about his "fishing" trip with Kurt.
I HAD NO CLUE!
I guess the car was parked in Steven and Alicia's garage to hide until Christmas. So, Christmas morning finally came. The whole family was at our house this year. One of the last boxes I open has a license plate border that said, "Katie's Hummer H3" on it...and there were car keys. I have to admit, I kinda thought it was a joke and I was going to find a hot wheels or something. But no, out parked on the front lawn was this little beauty...
Needless to say, I was so surprised. I can't believe that he actually did it, and that he pulled it off without me having a clue.
Since then, Mark has changed careers. When he got his new job he got a company car. So, here were, the two of us with 3 cars. Didn't make sense to us. So, we decided the Hummer was the car that had to go. This weekend someone bought it. Sad in a way, but also a really good thing. We are really happy to have had it sold, especially since SUV's aren't really selling right now.
Well, so long dream car. It was a blast to own you for a while. Who knows, maybe one day we'll meet again.

It's Over

MARK IS HOME!

His last two weeks of training is now over and he is "official."

It has been 11 weeks since he started training. Boy are we glad all of that stress and craziness is over. Now we move on to the stress and craziness of actually working in his territory and selling to the doctors. He has worked really hard throughout all of this. I am very proud of him and excited for all of his opportunities in this new career.

Fun Day

I got to hang out with some of the coolest kids around yesterday. They are so fun! We played with army men, went on a nature scavenger hunt, and watched Robin Hood. What a great afternoon.

I also went out to dinner with two of my good friends Lennae and Laura. I love these two ladies...wish I would have remembered to take our picture. We were all in the same young women's presidency...seems like forever ago. It was great to work with them, and it helped us to become good friends. So, when we were all released from our callings, we decided that we would go out together every once and a while to commiserate. This time we went to La Hacienda...such yummo food. It was so great to catch up with them and their lives, and to hear what is going on back in our old ward.

Meanwhile...Mark comes home Friday night! I am so excited. I have decided that this whole two weeks away for training thing SUCKS! So, it's just been me and the dogs for the last little while. I guess it's nice having them around since they're here to protect me from the bad guys. They look like they are doing their job, don't you think?

Cake Wrecks

Happy Friday!
If you want a good laugh, you gotta check out Cake Wreck's blog. It is so funny. It is a great compilation of cakes that have gone so terribly wrong. Her commentary is really funny and the whole thing is just so entertaining. I was laughing so hard at some of them...kinda made my morning today. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Leavin' Town

So, Mark is in North Carolina for his last round of training! I can't believe it is almost over. The only bummer part is that he is gone for 2 whole weeks this time! Well, three days down, only ten or so to go...I guess. In case it isn't obvious, I can't wait for him to come home! He has been going through a really intense training program for the last two months, and now the end is in sight. We are so happy for it to be over and for him to be able to completely focus on working out in the sales field.

So now we have decided that it is my turn to go on a trip. I am going to go out to Idaho to see these super cute kiddos...and their parents too. Oh, yeah...and Lenny their dog...can't forget to mention him. I am so excited, I can hardly contain myself. You see, Sarah and I have an agreement that I will be her kid's favorite aunt; and when we have kids, she will be ours. So, I gotta get out there and get in some face time with Jaxon and Sammie. I can't wait to see them! This trip will be extra fun because my parents and Emily will be there as well. Yeah! The fun just keeps coming. Emily is starting school at BYU-I in September. Can't believe she is a college student now...crazy!

I finally got to meet him!

So, Mark and I went out to make a visit today. We had to meet
Christian Mark W.!
He is Steven and Alicia's new little guy. They have decided that they are going to nickname him Ian. Cute huh. She has more pictures and info to look at. Now I know that I am his proud Auntie, and that I might be a bit biased, but he is so adorable. He is such a good little guy...he hardly makes a peep...so far.

Needless to say, Crazy Uncle Mark is quite a fan of our new little buddy. He also really likes Ian's middle name!
It was so much fun to see everybody. I loved getting to hold, feed, and just stare at Ian. What a cutie! Oh and for what it's worth...Alicia looked amazing! I can't believe she just had him yesterday.

Scandi

Mark and I went to the Scandinavian Festival. From what we have heard it is a pretty big deal around here. They block off several blocks of street off and there are many booths set up. They were selling super yummy food, or selling gifts, artwork and homemade items. Everyone who was working was dressed up in traditional Scandinavian attire. It was a really beautiful evening and it was so much fun just walking around and taking in the sights. We watched some of the traditional dancing for a little bit. Mark said while we were watching that it was his kind of dancing. The food was great. We ate an elephant ear. It was really good...and huge! And I got my picture taken with a viking. How's that for fun and excitement!

Just A Little Update...

So, life is plugging along at a somewhat normal pace. I started work at my new job last week. I am working at a super cute gift shop. I really think it is going to be a lot of fun. This store reminds me of ood ol' Corky's quite a bit.

I also got a calling in our new ward. I am the Primary Secretary. This should be kinda interesting....especially since I have spent the last 5 or so years working with the youth in our old ward. Well, I am up for the challenge. I think it will be a lot of fun to be involved with something new and different. The kids were pretty entertaining last Sunday. I think I will always have an abundance of funny stories to tell after a day in primary.
Mark also went fishing last weekend...It had been SO LONG since he had been. He had a blast, and it has motivated him go through and play with all of his fishing stuff. He had the kitchen table totally covered the other night. So cute...playing with his toys.
I think if he could go fishing every day he would. It makes him so happy to be out on the river. I'm so glad he could go with some guys from our ward...except now all he talks about is how much
he wants to buy a boat again!
* Now I know a new boat sounds fun... and all of his lame-o guy friends are totally encouraging this...but let's be real for a second now people! We cannot buy a new boat right now, not that we can't get one eventually, just not now. Y'all are crazy if you think otherwise. So, please...I'm begging now...quit encouraging my dear sweet husband! Thank you for you help. =)

I've Given In

I've finally given into peer pressure! Finally, after so many people have told me how much they LOVE these books, I have started the Twilight series. I am now reading New Moon. So...while I will probably never be the major die hard fan who is totally in love with Edward, I am really enjoying them. They read very quickly, and I am kinda hooked. Let's just say I haven't gotten anything productive accomplished today!
