On The Road Again

Imagine for a moment if you will, that for whatever reason a tv announcer was talking to Mark and I.  As we were nearing the end of our interview, the announcer would ask us this one final question.  “Mark and Katie, the large company that Mark works for just announced that there will be major layoffs coming in about a month.  What are you going to do?”

We would obviously answer by saying….

We’re going to Disneyland!

We are really excited to see my grandparents and to spend the weekend at the happiest place on earth.  Especially since Steven, Alicia, and their kids are coming too.

See you next week.

*******

Oh…..and we did see the layoffs coming.  So, the company’s announcement wasn’t really a surprise.  Mark has a big final interview Thursday morning.  We’re really hoping it works out.  Crossing our fingers.  And toes.

BBQ Sauce

I grew up in a BBQ sauce lovin’ house.  We used it in all the normal ways….like whenever my dad would grill chicken or steaks.  But we didn’t stop there.  It would be considered normal in our house to always put BBQ sauce on hamburgers, hot dogs, burritos, tacos, and well….you get the idea.

When I was back in Idaho last week, I was talking with both of my sisters and our funny BBQ sauce habit came up.  For some reason, when we were young, we thought we had come up with the most wonderful combination.

Wait for it…..

We used to take our bowl of mac n’ cheese and mix BBQ sauce into it.

Seriously.

We all thought it was amazing.  Looking back now, we all wonder what the heck we were thinking.  My sister, Sarah, said that she tried it again as an adult.  You know, just to see if it was really as good as we thought it was as kids.

Yeah, it’s just as gross as you’re probably thinking right now.

I’m so glad we grew out of that phase.

Did you ever do strange things with your food like that as a kid?  I hope so….I’d like to think that we weren’t the only weird ones.

I May Have Taken Too Many Pictures

I can’t believe how fast the last week has come and gone!  It was a week packed with tons of family and lots of fun…110.23180 110.38

110.36And of course Jake and Emily’s wedding!  As usual, I took so many pictures….I think there were easily over 200.  I know, it’s kind of crazy, but I just can’t help it.  Here’s just a few of their big day.

110.57 110.65110.95110110.101 142 119 165    I think since Emily is the baby of the family, we’ve always been a bit protective of her.  At least I know I have been.  I’m sure it has probably driven her crazy, but it’s all because we love her so much.  I’m happy that she chose to marry such a cool fella who I know will take great care of her.

Congrats Emily and Jake….We love you guys and are so happy for you both!

Oh, and I totally think you should come visit us before you head out to DC this summer!  You know you want to.

Way To Go Idaho

The last few days have been a bit on the crazy side.  On Saturday I flew to Idaho to spend the week with my family.  We’ve been busy doing all sorts of projects to get ready for my sister’s wedding….which is Friday! I think in the last two days we’ve probably made 600 or more cookies for their reception.038Then, the kiddos wanted to help, so we made even more cookies for the family to eat.045

As you can see, I had lots of fabulous helpers.  When we aren’t baking, there have been lots of dance parties, playing, races, and fighting over who gets to hold this little cutie…

This is my brand spankin’ new niece, Jill.  We’ve become quite good friends over the last couple of days and I think I’m already her favorite aunt.

Sunglasses

Yesterday was such a fun day.  I picked up my super cool niece and she came with me while I went and got my hair cut.  After that, we went to Kohl’s and spent a while trying on almost every pair of sunglasses at the store.  It’s been forever since I’ve had so much fun just goofing off at the store.

We were pretty stylin’…..if I do say so myself.  Once we had seen all the sunglasses there were to see, we decided that the afternoon called for ice cream cones at Dairy Queen.

If you want an extremely fun and entertaining day, spend it with a 4 year old.  Trust me.  You won’t regret it.  She makes for the best shopping pal ever.

We Don’t Even Like Hard Boiled Eggs

Easter weekend just wouldn’t be the same without decorating Easter eggs.  When I saw this blog post, I knew that I had to give it a try.012 001 (2)

We also enjoyed spending the night at Steven and Alicia’s house.  We watched conference with them and might have stayed in our pajamas most of the day.  Who doesn’t do that during conference?  Anyways, hanging out with their kids is always tons of fun and quite entertaining.005 (2) 010 (2)
